Staying Grounded in Times of Unraveling: A Letter on Feeling, Knowing, and Becoming First of all, Happy Juneteenth, Today honors the delayed announcement of emancipation in the U.S., when, on June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed they were “free.” My intention for this letter is to,
I believe that we are here to step into our healthiest versions of ourselves so that we can be part of this ever-weaving, connective web; to one another, our animal family, the mycelium network, and to Mother Earth. And while Juneteenth is a celebration of resilience and resistance, it also invites us to look at the ways slavery still persists in different forms today, through mass incarceration, forced labor, detention centers, and the exploitation of workers whose lives are treated as disposable. See from @intersectionalenvironmentalist below: Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not just a moment in history, it’s a living practice and ongoing duty And in every field, including this one of healing, coaching, wellness, there is still a tendency to value people based on:
... rather than humanity. And that, my friends, is FAR from sustainable or wholesome. This is why I believe it’s so important right now for each of us to be a bridge between past and future, between body and society, between disconnection and deep relationality. The Story Lives in Our Bodies - a piece of my story My grandmother was born on this land of Turtle Island, the part of which we now call Mexico. When she was deported from California, it shattered our lineage in ways that rippled through generations. My grandfather, unable to hold the weight of that loss, turned to substances that eventually claimed his life. My father and uncle were separated in the orphanage system, two boys torn from each other when they had already lost so much. This is not ancient history. This is the trauma that lives in my nervous system, in my father’s movements, in the way our family learned to survive by fragmenting. This is one reason why I do the work I do as a somatic relational trauma support, because what happened to my family is what happened and continues to countless families. The personal is political, and the political lives in our bodies.
When systems of oppression operate for generations, they don’t just harm, they dysregulate. They create nervous systems that are chronically activated, hearts that have learned to armor, and communities that have forgotten how to feel safe in collective healing, and perpetuate more harm onto others. But here’s what I know: We Can Heal What We’re Willing To Name And Feel. Three Pillars for This Moment As we navigate these times of unraveling, I offer three essential practices: 1. Feel Fully WITH Nervous System Support This moment demands that we stay present to what’s happening without bypassing or numbing out. But feeling fully doesn’t mean drowning in overwhelm. It means: Resourcing your nervous system daily -- Breathwork, movement, time in nature, community connection, whatever helps you stay regulated while staying awake. Honoring your ancestral wisdom -- The survival strategies that got your lineage through other times of upheaval are still available to you. Creating containers for grief -- We are witnessing the death of illusions, and grief is the bridge between what was and what’s becoming. Your sensitivity is not a weakness; it’s your medicine -- The world needs people who can feel deeply and still show up powerfully. 2. Stay Educated on Facts & Recognize Twisted Stories In times of chaos, information becomes a battlefield. Your discernment is crucial: Seek multiple sources. No single outlet has the complete picture -- Question narratives that increase division without offering solutions. Ask: Who benefits from this story? -- What is it asking me to feel? What actions is it encouraging? Stay connected to grassroots voices -- The most important stories often come from communities directly impacted, not from corporate media. Practice media hygiene -- Use the "embodied media" meditation I provided after the elections. Consume information intentionally, not compulsively -- The goal isn’t to know everything, it’s to know enough to make conscious choices about how you engage. 3. Stay Connected & Aware to Show Up as Your Fullest Self This is not the time to hide or wait for someone else to fix things. This is the time to: Build authentic community -- Find your people, the ones who can hold both the grief and the vision. Develop your gifts -- Whatever medicine you came here to offer, now is the time to refine it. Practice radical presence -- Show up for the small moments, the local connections, the daily opportunities to choose love over fear. Trust your role in the larger story -- You didn’t incarnate by accident. Your unique perspective and gifts are needed. The Bridges We’re Building I believe we’re in a time of great revealing, where systems that have harmed for generations are finally being seen clearly. This can feel overwhelming, but it’s also sacred work. We’re not just witnessing the end of old structures; we’re midwifing the birth of new ones, and we will need trained doulas in this transition process! The bridge into the society we want to step into isn’t built by waiting for perfect leaders or ideal conditions. It’s built by people like us choosing to stay awake, stay connected, and stay committed to something larger than our individual comfort. My grandmother’s deportation created a wound in our family line. But her resilience, her love for her family and life itself, her refusal to be disappeared, that lives in me too. And every time we find our way, or help someone find their way back to their body, back to their truth, back to their power, we are healing alongside our ancestral and collective wounds. An Invitation This moment is asking everything of us;
It’s asking us to be the bridge. Not the bridge back to how things were, but the bridge forward to how things could be. A society rooted in justice, in belonging, in the understanding that our liberation is interconnected. Your nervous system, your awareness, your health, your full presence, these are not luxuries. They are the tools through which new worlds are born. Final Reflections For Your Self-Inquiry

It’s a reclaiming of our full selves, in service of a world where no one is dehumanized or left behind. AND I KNOW, TOGETHER WE FREAKING GOT THIS! Here is to being the fertile ground for generations to come. xx With love, Veronica P.S. If this letter resonated with you, I invite you to share it with others who could use this reminder. Jan 2, 2026 Navigating Winter Sweets & Seeds AKA - do the best we can with what we got! "The wise person eats when calm, not when disturbed." — Ayurvedic Principle Hi Love, We're in the heart of winter now, a time when the world asks us to turn inward, to tend to the most important thing: the seed that will grow our forest. Spring will come. We will bloom, initiate, expand. But right now? Right now is for rooting down. And the way we nourish ourselves in these winter months sets the...
Jan 1, 2026 Who we get to be Reflections for the Year of the Snake Happy New Year, brilliant embodied ones, The New Year is here. And while we honor many portals of rebirth, like after a cleanse, birthday, equinox, the turning of this calendar that governs our collective rhythm, especially in how we relate to one another and plan our days, holds a particular power too. 2025, the Year of the Snake, humbled me. To shed old skins. It was painful. To move slowly through the underbrush of shadows...
